Abstract

Background: Intertrochanteric fractures are common injuries, particularly in the elderly population, and are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. The proximal femoral nail (PFN) has gained popularity in the treatment of unstable intertrochanteric
fractures. This prospective study aimed to evaluate the clinical and functional outcomes of PFN in the management of these fractures.
