Abstract

: Damage known as ventilator-associated lung injury (VALI) can occur when the lung is subjected to mechanical ventilation with the application of pressure, whether positive or negative. VALI may occur in previously normal lungs or worsen pre-existing ARDS. VALI can occur due to volutrauma, barotraumas, atelectrauma, biotrauma; Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) or
ARDS.
