Abstract

Background:Acute respiratory failure (ARF) and acute on chronic respiratory failure (ACRF) 
are significant medical conditions often necessitating mechanical ventilation. This study aims 
to compare the characteristics and outcomes of patients with ARF and ACRF requiring 
mechanical ventilation to identify potential differences and inform clinical practice.
