.Abstract
Background: Emergency surgery significantly increases the risk of intra-abdominal sepsis, along with factors such as hemodynamic instability, surgical indication, degree of wound contamination, and operative duration. Effective management of intra-abdominal sepsis often involves early surgical intervention to remove necrotic tissue and control infection. This study was undertaken to assess the prevalence of post-abdominal sepsis in patients undergoing emergency abdominal surgeries. Materials and Methods: A total of 100 patients who had presented with acute abdominal condition and had undergone emergency laparotomy in the Department of Surgery over 1 year period were included in the study.
