Abstract

Introduction: Carcinoma of the oral cavity and pharynx is the sixth most common cancer in the world, grouped together. The principal modalities of therapy remains surgery and radiotherapy, often in combination. Other modalities, including chemotherapy have been tried not only as palliative treatment but also as induction therapy or as an adjunct to surgery or radiotherapy with curative intent.
