Background: Cancer represents a major public health challenge worldwide, ranking as the second leading cause of death globally. In 2018 alone, there were 18.1 million new cancer cases, and the disease was responsible for an estimated 9.6 million deaths. The physical toll of cancer is well documented, but its psychological impact is equally profound. Cancer significantly increases the risk of psychiatric disorders, with approximately one-third of cancer patients experiencing mental health issues and requiring appropriate psychological treatment. Anxiety and depression are particularly prevalent among these psychological distresses. The aim of this study is to assess the prevalence of depression among cancer patients.
