Introduction: Microcytic hypochromic anaemia is commonly caused by decreased iron reserves of the body. Aims: This study aims to compare the diagnostic utility of Automated cell counters in the diagnosis of Microcytic hypochromic anaemia using peripheral blood smears as gold standard. Methodology: This was a Cross sectional study done on total of 200 cases of microcytic hypochromic anaemia. These cases were further categorized as microcytic hypochromic based on the automated hematology analyser reports. Morphological typing using RBC indices alone was verified with the typing done using peripheral blood smear examination.
