Abstract

Background 
Majority of intensive care unit patients with Sepsis undergo ischemic- reperfusion injury and 
inflammation to varying degrees during their hospitalization. Uric acid may be a factor 
playing a role in these processes since it has both oxidant and antioxidant properties. Since 
high levels of oxyradicals and lower antioxidant levels in patients with sepsis are believed to 
result in multi organ failure,
