Background: Cesarean section is one of the common surgeries of women, estimated to be
done in about 15% of births worldwide. The present study was conducted to assess the effect
of a single dose of intravenous dexamethasone on post operative analgesia after lower
segment cesarean section.
Materials & Methods: 100 patients with term pregnancy were divided into two groups of 50
each (Group A and Group B). Group A received a single dose of Dexamethasone (8mg/2ml)
intravenously. Group B received a single dose of Normal saline (2ml) intravenously.
Parameters such as heart rate, blood pressure, arterial pulse saturation (SpO2) and VAS score
were compared.
