Background: Initiation of weight-bearing following intramedullary nailing (IMN) of tibial shaft fractures remains controversial. Early weight-bearing (EWB) may accelerate rehabilitation but could risk implant failure whereas delayed weight-bearing (DWB) may protect fixation at the expense of stiffness and delayed recovery.
