Background: Postpartum haemorrhage (PPH) remains an important cause of maternal morbidity and mortality. Tranexamic acid (TXA), an antifibrinolytic agent, has been studied both to reduce blood loss around caesarean delivery and as treatment after clinically diagnosed PPH. These applications address different clinical questions and should not be considered interchangeable. Objective: To synthesize evidence available up to 31 December 2020 regarding prophylactic TXA in caesarean delivery and TXA for established PPH
