ATTITUDE OF JUNIOR COLLEGE STUDENTS TOWARDS ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION IN AHMEDNAGAR

Abstract
Introduction:AnDescriptive Study was conducted to assess the Attitude Towards
Alcohol Consumption Among Junior College Students in the Selected College of
Ahmednagar.
Objectives:To assess the attitude of Junior College students towards alcohol
consumption, to find out the association between selected socio-demographic
variables and attitude towards alcohol consumption of Jr. College students at selected
urban colleges.
Methodology:Sample of 100 junior college students were selected by using purposive
sampling technique. A semantic differential scale (attitude scale) was used to assess
the attitude of Junior College students towards alcohol consumption. Descriptive and
inferential statistics were used to analyze the data.
Result: The study revealed that, 3 (3%) of the Junior College students had the
favorable attitude, 42(42%) of them had neutral attitude and 55 (55%) had
unfavorable attitude towards alcohol consumption. The average attitude score of
Junior College students towards alcohol consumption at selected urban colleges was
80.62 with the standard deviation of 8.09. Study also concluded that there was
significant association of selected demographic variables.
Conclusion: Concludes that, there was significant association of educational stream
with attitude towards alcohol consumption with demographic characteristics of Jr.
College students in selected Urban Colleges.
