Background: Heart failure is a major health problem especially with the changing lifestyle. It is one of the most common causes for hospital admission especially among the elderly population. Acute decompensated heart failure results in recurrent hospitalisation increasing the morbidity. It also causes poor quality of life and economic burden. Identifying the precipitating factor and studying the prognostic factors can guide the therapeutic management. Objective. To estimate admission serum chloride levels in acute decompensated heart failure and to study correlation of admission serum chloride levels with the duration of stay in these patients
