Abstract

BACKGROUND:  Neonatal septicemia is a clinical syndrome characterized by signs and 
symptoms of infection with or without accompanying bacteremia in the first month of life. It 
is characterized by positive blood culture, thrombocytopenia and elevated C-reactive protein.
