Background: Hypertension affects over one billion individuals and doubles the risk of
cardiovascular diseases. It is linked to dietary sodium chloride, low calcium and potassium
intake, alcohol, psychosocial stress, and decreased physical activity. Uncontrolled
hypertension increases the risk of heart, brain, and kidney problems.
