Background: Magnesium plays an important role in bronchodilation and has anti-inflammatory
effects. Hypomagnesaemia has been associated with increased risk of acute exacerbations in
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). This study aimed to evaluate the relationship
between serum magnesium levels and clinical outcomes in patients hospitalized for acute
exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD).
