Background: Post operative pain relief in children is very important since they have reduced 
threshold for pain so adequate analgesia is necessary. Caudal block is well accepted technique 
for infraumbilical surgeries and provides good analgesia. Ropivacaine, an amide local 
anaesthetic has reduced cardiac and neural toxicity with lesser motor blockade and good level 
of sensory blockade but however they do not have prolonged effects s
