Background: Spinal anaesthesia, injecting local anaesthetics into the subarachnoid space is a routinely used anesthetic technique in infra-umbilical surgeries. Some studies observe a strong correlation between abdominal girth/vertebral column length and cephalad spread of drug while some studies found no correlation. Our study aim to evaluate the role of vertebral column length and abdominal girth with patient in sitting position to determine the cephalad spread of intrathecal hyperbaric bupivacaine.
