Abstract

Introduction: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease marked by poor 
glucose metabolism and insulin resistance. Although diabetes-related cardiovascular and renal 
complications have historically received the majority of attention in research and clinical care, 
the effects of diabetes on pulmonary functions are becoming more widely acknowledged.
