Lipoprotein (a) is comprised of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol which promote endothelial dysfunction and impair the effect of vasodilation by reducing the availability of nitric oxide by inhibiting the eNOS expression. Higher Lipoprotein (a) levels are linked with a higher risk of coronary heart disease.
