INTRODUCTION: The sudden deficit of neurological loss brought on by a focal vascular aetiology is what defines a stroke. Since 6 thromboembolic strokes account for 80% of all strokes, early detection of atheromatous alterations in the carotid artery can reduce strokerelated morbidity and mortality. An accurate diagnosis is crucial for effective stroke treatment.
