Background: Postoperative complications remain a significant cause of morbidity, prolonged hospitalization, and increased healthcare costs following major surgery. Identification of reliable and cost-effective preoperative predictors may improve perioperative risk assessment and patient outcomes. Inflammatory biomarkers such as neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and C-reactive protein (CRP) have emerged as potential indicators of systemic inflammatory status and surgical risk.
