Abstract

Background: Peripartum psychosis (PPP) is a severe but relatively rare psychiatric emergency occurring around childbirth, with an incidence of 1–2 per 1,000 deliveries. Disruption of the sleep-wake cycle during the peripartum period is increasingly recognised as a significant precipitating factor. The present study aimed to investigate the association between sleep-wake cycle alterations and the onset of peripartum psychosis in women attending a tertiary care centre in West Bengal.
