Abstract

Background: Acute febrile illnesses common in northern India, including dengue, scrub typhus and leptospirosis, frequently involve the heart. Cardiac injury in this setting is easy to miss because breathlessness, tachycardia and hypotension are readily attributed to the infection itself, yet it carries prognostic weight and changes management.
