Background: Ultrasound-guided supraclavicular brachial plexus block is widely used for anesthesia and postoperative analgesia in upper-limb surgery. Although bupivacaine provides effective sensory and motor blockade, adjuvant drugs such as dexamethasone have been investigated to prolong block duration and improve postoperative analgesia. The present study compared the efficacy and duration of analgesia produced by bupivacaine alone versus bupivacaine combined with dexamethasone.
