Abstract

Background: Atrophic acne scars are a frequent sequela of acne vulgaris and may persist long after active acne has resolved.Conventional clinical assessment is based mainly on scar morphology, depth, texture and pigmentation. Dermoscopy provides magnified visualization of subsurface pigmentary, vascular and structural alterations and may provide an objective method 
for monitoring treatment response. Fractional carbon dioxide (CO₂) laser is an established resurfacing modality that promotes controlled dermal injury and subsequent collagen remodeling.
