Abstract

Background: Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) is an acute, severe disorder associated with 
absolute or relative insulin deficiency, volume depletion, and acid–base abnormalities, which
can result in potentially serious complications if not promptly diagnosed and treated.
Aim: To study the clinico-epidemiological profile and associated risk factors in patient 
presenting with diabetic ketoacidosis in Dr. Susheela Tiwari Government Hospital, a tertiary 
care centre of Uttarakhand.
Design: A cross-sectional and observational study was conducted in the Department of General 
Medicine, Government Medical College and associated Dr Susheela Tiwari Hospital, Haldwani
for a period of 18 months from January 2023 to June 2024.
