Abstract

Background
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) helps in the stabilization of the knee joint. Anterior cruciate
ligament injury is a very common condition and its improper management may lead on to long-term
knee dysfunction. Thickness of ACL can be correlated with the ligament's strength,
stability, integrity and susceptibility to injury. There is a lack of data in literature regarding the
normal variation in anterior cruciate ligament thickness. This study aims to assess the thickness of
ACL in individuals who attended a tertiary care hospital in North Kerala, India.
