Abstract

Aim: The aim of the present study was to detect carbapenemase genes among the carbapenemresistant isolates in Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumonia by phenotypic and molecular
methods.
Methods: The current investigation was conducted in the Department of Microbiology in
collaboration with the Department of Anaesthesia, Government Medical College Patiala, on
200 isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli from different clinical samples,
such as urine, pus, wound, sputum, blood, endotracheal aspirate, pleural fluid, and
cerebrospinal fluid, received from indoor patients of Rajindra Hospital, Patiala.
