This article focuses on the challenges of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
face and different ways to develop social skills in children with ASD, such as behavioural
approaches, speech and language therapy, social skill group training, Positive
Behaviour Reinforcement Interventions, social narratives, video modelling, and Pivotal
Response Training. The role of technology in developing social skills in children with ASD,
including text-to-voice messages, battery-operated sensory toys, virtual and augmented
reality, and augmentative and alternative communication technology is also discussed in the
same light. These social skills can help ASD children mitigate certain issues related to
communication and interaction, and improve their confidence, independence, and appropriate
social behavior
