Abstract

BACKGROUND: Urinary tract infection (UTI) remains the common infection diagnosed in outpatients as well as in hospitalized patients. Current knowledge on antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of uropathogens is mandatory for appropriate therapy.  ESBL, Amp-C and MBL were clinically important cephalosporinases encoded on the chromosomes of many Enterobacteriaceae and a few other organisms, which mediates resistance to broad spectrum of antibiotics.
