Abstract

Dexmedetomidine can result in cardiovascular depression, i.e., bradycardia and hypotension due to central presynaptic alpha 2A stimulation, with decreased norepinephrine. The incidence of postoperative bradycardia has been reported to be as high as 40% in healthy surgical patients who received Dexmedetomidine, especially high doses.
