Abstract

Background: Hypertension, commonly referred to as high blood pressure, is one of the most prevalent cardiovascular conditions worldwide. It is a major risk factor for the development of severe health complications such as stroke, heart failure, kidney disease, and myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: A prospective, randomized, controlled trial was conducted with 100 hypertensive patients aged 30-65 years. Patients were randomly assigned to Group A (beta-blockers, metoprolol 50 mg) or Group B (calcium channel blockers, amlodipine 5 mg). Blood pressure and heart rate were measured at baseline, 1, 3, and 6 months. Adverse drug reactions (e.g., bradycardia, dizziness, peripheral edema) were monitored, and lipid profiles were assessed at baseline and 6 months
