Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the anti-inflammatory activity of Curcuma longa (turmeric) alcoholic extract in a carrageenan-induced paw edema model in rats. Materials and Methods: The alcoholic extract of C. longa was prepared and subjected to phytochemical screening and acute oral toxicity studies. The anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated using the carrageenan-induced paw edema model in rats. Animals were administered with the extract (200 mg/kg body weight) or vehicle control one hour before carrageenan injection. Paw edema was measured at various time intervals, and the percentage inhibition of edema was calculated.
