Abstract

Background Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are among the most common bacterial infections globally, significantly impacting healthcare systems and patient outcomes. The emergence of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) exacerbates the challenge of treating UTIs, particularly in emergency care settings, where rapid initiation of empirical therapy is crucial. AMR not only compromises treatment efficacy but also leads to increased healthcare costs, prolonged hospital stays, and higher mortality rates. Understanding regional and global resistance patterns is essential for developing effective treatment protocols.
