Abstract

The widespread use of smartphones has become a necessity in modern society, offering
convenience through technological advancements. However, excessive dependence on
smartphones has raised concerns about its potential negative effects on physical, psychological,
and cognitive health. This paper reviews existing literature on the relationship between
smartphone use and mental health, academic performance, and cognitive function. Studies
indicate that excessive smartphone usage is linked to sleep deprivation, anxiety, stress,
depression, and diminished cognitive abilities, including attention, memory, and executive
functions.
