    Abstract

    Background Laryngoscopic manipulation and the process of endotracheal intubation can trigger harmful responses, such as increased heart rate, irregular heart rhythms, and elevated blood pressure. The aim of the study is to compare the efficacy of two different doses of dexmedetomidine (0.5mcg/kg and 0.75mcg/kg) for attenuation of hemodynamic response to laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubation in adult patients undergoing elective surgeries under general anaesthesia and to determine dose dependent side effects like hypotension, bradycardia and sedation.
