Abstract
Background: Healthcare-associated infections Also referred as nosocomial infections results in significant morbidity and mortality in hospitalized patients, especially among ICU patients. 80% of these UTIs are catheter-associated (CAUTIs). The study is planned to determine the prevalence rate, microbiological profile with antibiotic sensitivity pattern as well as risk factors, associated with symptomatic catheter-associated UTI which will ultimately help in fprmulatng and implementing the preventive measures to curb down the burden of healthcare nosocomial infections.
