Abstract
Background & Methods: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of Dexmedetomidine as an adjuvant to Levobupivacaine on patient with respect to duration and onset of sensory and motor blockade. Additionally, the sedative effect and procedural complications are also observed. Under all aseptic condition USG guided supraclavicular brachial plexus block was performed. Patient had either received 30 ml of 0.5 % levobuivacaine plus 1 ml NS OR 30 ml of 0.5 % levobupivacaine plus 1 ml Dexmedetomidone (100 microgram) as per anaesthesiologist’s choice. The spread of drug was confirmed by ultrasonography. Sensory block was assessed by atraumatic pin prick test. Motor block was assessed by modified bromage score. Various hemodynamic parameters were observed at different time interval till the lock effect was resolved.
