Abstract
Complications reported with Direct current cardioversion are transient hypotension, arrhythmia, stroke and dermatological burns. In this report, we present a case of ECV induced acute left ventricular systolic dysfunction. A 52-year male came with complaints of multiple episodes of resting chest painlasting for few seconds associated with sweating from last 2 months. He described nature of pain which was atypical with no relation to exertion. Patient had acute left ventricular systolic dysfunction presenting as prolonged hypotension and acute pulmonary edema requiring inotropes and decongestants, following DC cardioversion. Subsequently patient’s clinical parameters including ejection fraction improved with inotropic and medical support. So, DC cardioversion can be one rare cause of reversible left ventricular dysfunction.
