Abstract
Aim and Objective –Comparing patient’s pain score, positioning & ease of Sub Arachnoid Block (SAB) , number of attempt and duration of postoperative analgesia in patient for Femur Neck Fracture surgery with and without Fascia Iliaca Compartment Block(FICB).Materials and method-60 patient of ASA grade 1 &2 between 30-70 years, undergoing surgery for fracture neck Femur, having difficulty to give position for SAB. So landmark guided FICB was given 30 mins before the SAB using 0.25% inj. Bupivacaine 25 ml with patients in supine position. Results –In group A,VAS before FICB was 8 and lessened to 2 at positioning for Sub Arachnoid Block. In group B with no FICB, VAS remained at 8. Mean duration of analgesia in group A was 410.8 min whereas in group B , it was 170.23 min. Conclusion-FICB efficaciously provides analgesia for patients positioning during SAB in patients with Femur Neck Fractures, provides prolonged analgesia in postoperative period and reduces need for intravenous analgesic in the first 24 hour of postoperative period. It also helps maintain stability of vital parameters during perioperative period.
