Abstract
Introduction/background Cardiac disease complicating pregnancy is an important cause of maternal mortality and morbidity both in antepartum and postpartum period. The overall incidence of heart disease in pregnancies <1%. Challenges in the management have increased because successful treatment of congenital heart diseases has created a new population who are able to reach the childbearing age and pregnancy in older women who are susceptible to heart disease acquired in adulthood.
