Abstract
Cesarean section (C-section) is a common obstetric procedure, but it is also associated with a risk of significant blood loss. Despite significant progress in obstetric care, 125,000 women die from obstetric hemorrhage annually in the world. Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH), defined as blood loss of more than 500 mL after a vaginal birth or more than 1,000 mL after a C-section, is a leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality worldwide. Tranexamic acid (TXA) is an antifibrinolytic medication that has gained increasing attention in the management of bleeding during surgeries, including C-sections.
