Abstract
The basis for increased cardiovascular events following acute infection is hypothesized to be endothelial dysfunction, characterized by atheromatous plaque rupture and the development of a prothrombotic environment . As acute cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), specifically ischemic stroke and MI, are major causes of morbidity and mortality in the India and worldwide, understanding the basis for acute cardiovascular events and any potential for prevention becomes increasingly important.
