Abstract
Chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) refers to a chronic infection of the mucosa lining the middle ear cleft. CSOM is characterized by chronic inflammation of the middle ear and mastoid mucosa. Active mucosal CSOM is often associated with resorption of parts or all of the ossicular chain (resorptive osteititis).
