    Abstract

    Background The presence of meconium in amniotic fluid of intrapartum patient is of concern to both the obstetricians and neonatologist as it is associated with poor fetal outcome. The passage of meconium can occur before or during labour meconium aspiration syndrome is believed to result from aspiration of meconium during intrauterine gasping or at the first breath.
