Abstract
It is widely acknowledged that glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible vision loss in the world. The loss of retinal ganglion cells is a characteristic of glaucoma. Excessive increase in Intraocular pressure (IOP) is the primary cause of glaucoma. An overall grasp of the disease is necessary so that the physicians may be able to refer high-risk patients for comprehensive ophthalmologic examinations and participate in patient care more actively if they have a better understanding of the disease's risk factors and treatment options, including pharmacotherapy as well as surgical management.
