    Abstract

Left ventricular dysfunction is associated with cardiovascular mortality. Its association with ischemic stroke has been mainly documented after myocardial infarction. But if the LV dysfunction is assessed in ischemic stroke patients prior to MI, cardiovascular complications such as overt heart failure, sudden cardiac death can be prevented. The prognosis of LV dysfunctional ischemic patients can be improved. Hence the aim and objectives is to assess left ventricular function in patients with ischemic stroke and to determine whether left ventricular dysfunction could be a surrogate marker for in hospital mortality in patients with ischemic stroke.
