    Cardiovascular assessment in patients of chronic kidney disease

    Abstract

    Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is defined as structural or functional abnormalities of kidneys with or without reduction of glomerular filtration rate persisting for three months or above, manifested by either pathological or kidney function abnormality markers observed in urine, blood or imaging,(ii) GFR<60ml/min/1.73m2 for three months or above with or without kidney damage. Materials & Methods Place of study: Tertiary Hospital, Bangalore Study type: Hospital based analytic study Data collection: Cross Sectional. Sample size: 100 subjects with chronic kidney disease visiting Tertiary Hospital, Bangalore. Duration of study: February 2021 to March 2022 Results: Out of total 100 subjects 17 were found to be <30 Yrs. age (14 male, 3 female). Age group 31-40 included 12 subjects with 5 male and 7 females. Total 18 subjects were present in age group 41-50 (8 male, 10 female). Twenty six subjects were present in 51-60 age groups (13 male 13 female). Maximum 27 subjects (21male, 6 female) were present in age group >60. Discussion: This study assessed various cardiovascular manifestations, prevalence of CAD risk factors, ECG and echocardiographic changes associated with chronic kidney disease. Conclusion  CKD was prevalent in all the age groups, but was more common in age group > 50 years.  CKD in male subjects were more common than female.(61:29).
