Abstract
Background Dry eye syndrome (DES) is a common condition characterized by insufficient tear production or excessive tear evaporation, leading to discomfort, visual disturbances, and potential damage to the ocular surface. Carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC) is frequently used in artificial tears for its viscosity and lubricating properties. The addition of glycerin and balanced electrolytes to CMC formulations may enhance moisture retention and support ocular surface health, potentially offering superior relief from DES symptoms.
